Simon Loli's background stems from traveling around the world since birth. His father, born and raised in Rome and Tuscany, Italy, and his mother, born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, met in Tasmania. Simon, born in Zambia, has lived in and traveled to Australia, Indonesia, Asia, Africa, Europe, South, Central, and North America. Simon began drawing and painting at the age of five and began photography at the age of 12. Simon has enjoyed nature, landscape, and architectural photography, colored pencils, oil and acrylic painting, rapidographs, mechanical drawing, charcoal, pastel, watercolors, and wood work.
He has studied the arts and artisanship in Tuscany, Italy amongst artisan masters, at Carnegie Mellon University and University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and at UCSD and SDSU in San Diego, California. With a Masters in Geological Science, Simon has had many opportunities to capture his outdoor adventurous travels on camera. Some pictures were taken as potential ideas to create future drawings and or paintings (Simon's passion is to use all his interests such as drawing, painting, photography, and wood-work, and create a mixed media artwork).
During his travels, pictures were also taken because he wanted people to experience that special place and moment that may never be created and seen again. Simon loves to capture those evanescent and capricious moments of this earth and encapsulate them for all to enjoy indefinitely.
